Introducing our summer print: Bamboo. Inspired by Bambusa Arnhemica, a native Australian bamboo from Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. Coloured a distinct light green and turning orange-yellow as they harden, the upper stems and branches of the bamboo arch gracefully and the culms are strong and almost solid. It is thought the original didgeridoos were made from bamboo. To create the print, a series of hand drawings were done of the plant, which was then scanned into Adobe Photoshop for recolouring and placement. To celebrate its launch we sat down with the face of our Bamboo Print shoot and friend of the brand, Dubs Yunupingu, to learn more about her work, where she draws her inspiration from and how she likes to spend her weekends.
I DESCRIBE MYSELF AS...
A free spirit. A go-with-the-flow type of gal.
A PART OF MY WORK I LOVE THE MOST IS...
Getting creative and just having fun!
MY MORNING/EVENING ROUTINE LOOKS LIKE...
I'm not the best morning person - I have to set 10 alarms just to wake up! So my morning routine is very slow.
I DRAW INSPIRATION FROM...
My mum, my mob and mother earth.
RIGHT NOW, I FEEL...
Blessed!
HOME IS...
My favourite place to be.
MY PERSONAL STYLE IS...
I don't really know; I like vintage clothes and I love to be comfy so I have lots of tracksuits and basketball shorts.
I'M READING, WATCHING AND LISTENING TO...
I can never concentrate when reading, so I am still working on that! I just finished watching the Harry Potter series with my sister girl and I am listening to emerging Australian Artists.
MY IDEAL WEEKEND STARTS WITH...
A big sleep in, followed by food, maybe a trip to the beach and more food.
