This Father’s Day, we’re acknowledging the Dads that make up our Assembly Label community. From treasured memories and special moments to the best advice they’ve been given; six members of our team muse on the relationship they have with their Father’s and children.
Arthur’s Daughters muse on their relationship with their Dad.
How would you describe your relationship?
Our dad is fun, loving and always supporting us.
Can you share with us the best piece of advice you have received from your Dad?
Be strong, independent women.
What is your most treasured memory together?
There’s too many to mention, but we love our holidays together.
Luke reminisces on the moment his dad met his children.
What is your most treasured memory together?
Both my kids were born whilst I was living overseas, I think the first time my Dad met both Max & Indy was pretty special to me.
What is your favourite part of being a Father?
Watching my kids develop their own personalities and opinions about the world and the feeling of absolute unconditional love.
How will you be celebrating Father's day this year?
I will be spending time with my kids and hanging with my Dad, cooking some wholesome food… and hopefully getting spoiled, ha.
Michael shares some of his favourite moments with his children.
What is your most treasured memory together?
It's a hard one as there are so many. When Aria was born (she was born on Fathers day) I remember the excitement, sense of responsibility, the first time she held my hand and the overwhelming feeling of being a new dad, a perfect first Father’s Day.
With Alfie it was taking his big sister to meet him, watching Aria’s curiosity and delight, as she met her brother for the first time, will always stick with me.
I treasure every time they learn something new, the concentration as they try and try and their reaction when they realise that they’ve got this pure joy.
Can you tell us about a tradition you share with your children?
We make time to enjoy our Sundays. We start the day with a walk to a café for breakfast, it's a chance after a busy week to share quality time together.
Exploring the walks around our home, playing and catching up, it's the best way to spend a Sunday.
What is your favourite part of being a Father?
My favourite part of being a father is making Aria and Alfie laugh, it's the most beautiful and perfect sound that’s ever existed. I love watching their imagination run wild, going with their sense of wonder, playing on swings and riding scooters. They remind me to slow down and enjoy the simple things.
I love coming home from work and seeing their smiling faces running towards me, it makes everything worthwhile.
Damien tells us how he will be celebrating Father’s Day this year.
Can you tell us about a tradition you share with your children?
Beach days, shell collecting, drawing, painting, bedtime stories, and last but not least, Monkey bars.
What is your favourite part of being a Father?
The shared experiences...and my newfound belief in fairies and unicorns.
How will you be celebrating Father's day this year?
A day with family; breakfast together followed by the beach or park and maybe a little Father’s Day surf to iron out the creases.
Giulia describes the close bond she has with her father.
How would you describe your relationship?
My dad is my best friend. I definitely put him through a lot of grief as a teenager, but it has only brought us closer together. I know I can always confide in him and no matter, what he will support me. He’s my biggest role model and I couldn’t imagine a world without him.
Can you share with us the best piece of advice you have received from your Dad?
It’s hard to narrow it down to just one! Probably to always be the best possible version of myself and if that’s not enough for people, then they’re not worth my time. I definitely don’t think I’d be as caring and humble if it wasn’t for the values he’s taught me.
Frank, what is your favourite part of being a father?
Being able to guide and help my children when they need it and watching them grow into beautiful, strong young women.
Lee’s father tells us about one of his favourite family traditions.
How would you describe your relationship?
Our relationship continues to grow stronger. We are supportive of each other; our strong communication is something I cherish. Our love of sport and travel allows us to spend time together resulting in wonderful memories. In other words, our relationship is the best any father could ask for.
Can you tell us about a tradition you share with your children?
Christmas is a special tradition for our family. Delicious food, Kris Kringle, Bocce followed by a game of cricket finishing when all of the balls have been hit over neighbour’s fences. Last year the family went to Ballina where my daughter lives and the traditions continued which was lovely to see.
Lee, what is one of your most treasured memories together?
When I read this question the Japan trip instantly popped up in my thoughts. I had a trip planned with 7 mates and one pulled out at the last moment, Dad jumped in and was easily MVP of the trip. One afternoon we were skiing together, just ourselves and had a eureka moment to realise how lucky I am to experience this.
